As a response to the increase in sales at outdoor events and fairs, the company wanted a checkout process that could suit such outdoor, spontaneous shopping behavior. The primary objective of this project was to redesign the company’s checkout process and update their existing POS setup.
Redesign checkout- The company’s existing checkout process needed to be understood in order to seamlessly upgrade it to meet their objectives. This required understanding its workflow and nuances to create a process that enabled easy shopping, enhanced consumer interaction and improved the overall shopping experience.
Integration to ERP- The new checkout process was to be designed in a way that ensured integration with the company’s existing ERP system in order to organize and simplify the checkout process. Integrating the company’s various servers into the platform added another dimension to the process.
Device integration- The checkout process created was to support specific Tablet POS systems. Ease of check out- The mobile checkout process created was automated to a great extent making it easy to induct new cashiers and avoid the hassles of intensive training.
Enhanced feature set- The process was created to support 10" and 7" Android Tablets and to display the company’s products, organized into multiple categories. Features such as easy product selection and auto discount calculation were also incorporated to support and equip the company’s sales team. The sales teams were enabled to complete transactions anywhere in the store with the options of providing receipts in print, email or SMS, a feature not available in the company’s previously used pin pads.
Customized communication- The POS device users could modify the content on the receipts header and footer, with ease, to include coupons, rewards and other company material, according to the consumer checking out, to make the content more relevant.
Analytics and Reporting- The transactions conducted on the floor of the store are immediately processed, analyzed and automatically transmitted to the company’s ERP systems, thereby balancing the company’s payments and inventory. Consumer analytics are also provided to enable the company to better understand their consumers and their shopping patterns.
